Nick Palmer Autumn 2021 Collection
Nick Palmer
is one of London Fashion Weeks ones to watch.
Nicholas Palmer, a men’s fashion designer, is a 2018 graduate of Central Saint Martins’ prestigious MA Fashion Program. His MA collection was exhibited during the catwalk show during London Fashion Week.
Raised in a university town in Indiana, Nicholas was able to explore the arts from an early age. In 2008 he moved to New York for a fashion-design internship with Menswear label Duckie Brown before starting at Parsons the New School for Design. Nicholas graduated from Parsons in 2014 with a BFA in Fashion Design. He was honored with a CFDA+ certification in 2014 for Exemplary Graduating Talent in Menswear. Post graduation he has gained experience working designers such as Ralph Lauren and John Varvatos, and he had an apprenticeship at Coach under Stuart Vevers.
Nicholas’s design aesthetic is modern and forward thinking with roots in historical fashion. This is exemplified in his MA collection, which was inspired by both historical Victorian mourning fashion and the contemporary Goth publication Propaganda Magazine by Fred R. Berger. Nicholas chooses to focus on the integration of an understanding of construction with an appreciation of the history of fashion. This integration allows him to move menswear design practices forward, integrating sustainable techniques whenever this is feasible and sensible. His vision for creating stylish, edgy fashion-forward menswear, together with his appreciation of the history of fashion and of the opportunities afforded by new construction technologies, is what deeply inspires him to design. It is with that understanding that he creates his collections – studying the past, learning from what has come before – to create his own unique voice and design style.
